Sports Nutrition Books

Within the last few years people have become more health conscious and especially the athletes and health buffs have become increasingly conscious of their food and nutrition. To meet this new demand and clientele, numerous books have been written on sports nutrition in order to increase awareness in eating healthy while exercising and doing sports. Among these books, some of them are outstanding and really worth perusing.

 

'Sports Nutrition Guidebook' by Nancy Clark is a series of suggestions for sport nutrition by different sports nutritionists. Nancy Clark herself is a well-known and renowned sports nutritionist. The book guides the reader on how to identify the food that can provide more energy but at the same time help to cope with stress and weight control, while improving overall health and bettering a stressed out lifestyle with improved quality workouts. There is special attention given to losing excess body fat without losing the energy for exercising. The book also contains good tips on improving food benefits by choosing the right food. The tips are practical with easy to follow guide lines for day to day application.

'High-Performance Nutrition: The Total Eating Plan to Maximum your Workout' is a book by Susan Kleiner which correlates one's eating to a workout schedule and plan in order to obtain maximum results from the workout. The book stresses the combination of the right diet and exercise for excelling in sports and achieving optimum results. She demonstrates how this alliance between diet and exercise for excelling in sports can influence the body to respond to all types of workout including strength training, cross training, aerobics, endurance training and other types of recreational sports.

'Sports Nutrition for Endurance Athletes' by athlete counselor Monique Ryan on the athlete's nutritional intake needs is a result of twenty years of experience in counseling athletes on the right nutrition for their needs. She walks the reader through the principles applicable for endurance athletes of all sports with specific guidelines for triathlon, swimming, distance running, cycling, mountain biking etc. In addition to basic nutrition, she deals with persistence in training. This is a detailed book in addition to being a practical sports nutrition guide.

'Eating for Endurance' is by a registered dietician who is an elite endurance athlete, specializing in sports nutrition. This is a firsthand information book as the author speaks from experience. The book includes programs for improving the diet, maintaining an equilibrated healthy vs. ideal weight balance, the use of supplements for sport nutrition, successful extreme environment sport handling and much more helpful information for the endurance sportsman.

It is important that all serious sportsmen and health buffs have the right tools in managing their workouts with combining the right foods. These books do not supply the reader with misleading information or false promises but provide the information showing that achieving the targets and goals are possible if the person is committed and persistent. Sports nutrition shows that exercise combined with a balanced diet helps achieve one's goals in addition to improving the overall health.
